Site translations - help us

Wed Dec 06, 2006 11:50 pm

This is old GUIDE, read the newest

Making new translations
If you would like to see opensubtitles.org available in your language (if it is not yet supported), you can create a translation. We will add your credits to http://www.opensubtitles.org/en/changelog so you can show to your friends how you helped :)

We are interested in these translations:
  • Japanese
    Chinese (simplified)
    Chinese (traditional)
    Croatian
    Danish
    Korean

Ok, here is small guide how to make a new translation:

1. go to www.opensubtitles.org/addons/translate.php
2. DOWNLOAD english file
3. use some UTF8 capable text editor (www.ultraedit.com)
4. edit that file
5. send me that file ([email protected])

I hope you know php a bit, you have to edit the right side :)

Correct existing translations
All things related to translation of the web pages should go to this topic.
Missing or mistranslated texts, needed languages (and voulenteers),
etc.

Update: we are working on the online translation feature very hard,
so there should be just a few translator(s) for every language, and he/she (or they) will maintain thier own languages.

Also, when you are posting here some translations, use this format please:
$LANG['group']['msgid'] = 'this is a translated text';

You can see what is not translated at:
www.opensubtitles.org/addons/translate.php

Thats definitely good idea! I will make this post as sticky and will add those translations as soon as possible :) But I am not sure if phpbb is utf8 capable :(
seems not - <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

and that should be problem...

hun char-set

Thu Dec 07, 2006 10:37 am

The hungarian charactter set is as follows:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-2">
This could be set in the head section via php, when changing lang to hun.

Fri Dec 08, 2006 5:24 pm

In the main page i still found 2 (3) english strings (when viewed as hun).
Software = Szoftver

The 2nd one is in to different places

Notice for all translators:
"drtic" - dont translate that, it is special format for satelittes.

Download subtitles as drtic (dtc)
in hungarian:
Felirat letöltése mint drtic (dtc)

support page translation

support page translation

The whole support page is english only.
I think more people would donate,
if they could read the messages on that page.
