You can't do them in one go. You have limits on movies per search, results per search and subs per day. Do 75 or 100 per day until done, then keep the thing up to date in the future.

I just noticed this and thought to clarify a common confusion: GPL nowhere says software shouldn't be sold. What GPL does is offer the source code of the application to anyone that wishes to run the application themselves. You're free to sell the application binaries, a compiled version of even a ZIP of the source code, as long as you provide the source code as well freely.

Capiscuas offers the source of SubDownloader for free, which means he's fully compliant with the letter and the spirit of the GPL (remember that GPL sells its CDs, regardless of the source code being free).

There's so much confusion by what "free" means that the FSF have been trying to put distance between their license and philosophy and the word itself, as it tends to be confused in the same manner as the post I replied to does.

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.txt :
The GNU General Public License is a free, copyleft license for software and other kinds of works.
The licenses for most software and other practical works are designed to take away your freedom to share and change the works. By contrast, the GNU General Public License is intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change all versions of a program--to make sure it remains free software for all its users.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyleft :
Copyleft is a play on the word copyright to describe the practice of using copyright law to offer the right to distribute copies and modified versions of a work and requiring that the same rights be preserved in modified versions of the work. In other words, copyleft is a general method for making a program (or other work) free (libre), and requiring all modified and extended versions of the program to be free as well.

Exactly. You don't mention anything other than quoting the definitions so I assume you agree with what I said (which is what the license and definitions mean).

Isn't it surprising how many people miss the point of the GPL?

GPL doesn't have anything to do with money. The GPL (or copyleft) doesn't require anyone to give anything for free (gratis). Both just ensure the freedom of the code ("free" as in freedom, not ours but of the code).

Most people are so confused they think GPL stuff has to be free in all its forms, think the owner of GPL software relinquishes all control over it, etc. This is so wrong that Stallman and the FSF have made numerous posts complaining about this skewed form of interpretation.

SubDownloader's source is owned by Capiscuas. As such he's not bound by the GPL in the ways he can distribute the application, as the original creator. He can decide to give the code away as GPL and decide to charge a million dollars for a binary for Windows. Even if the GPL didn't allow him FULL CONTROL over his creation (including having several kinds of licenses concurrently, at his discretion, if he so wishes, as well as exceptions as he sees fit) it would still explicitly allow him to sell specific forms of distribution (like binaries for Windows). The only limitation he has is that he can't charge more for the source code than he does for any other form (since he doesn't charge for the source code at all he's more than compliant), as a license for the application should involve a license for its code.

So much misinformation on this, it almost hurts the Free movement a lot more than helping it.

Really he's just putting a price on the software for Windows users because he doesn't like people who use Windows. Kind of a douche move, but he's allowed to be a douche, it's his software. Direct quote from him: "Again, if you like other OS rather than Windows, the application is free. This revenue of money is a tax for those windows users, I have to admit, I don't like Windows so if you like it that much that you are still using it, then I don't feel pitty about you. You are free to not use the app". I'm taking his advice of not using his program, which sounds to me to be underdeveloped anyways, and only making this post because I was really appalled when I found out what he chose to do and his reasons for doing so. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with him in real life, I'm certain we wouldn't get along.

He's definitely had to go through some work to stick with his decision though. Launchpad wouldn't even let him host or discuss his Windows binaries and license issues on their servers without him paying a $250 a year subscription for hosting a commercial use project.

Error when uploading subtitles
"402 Substitles has Invalid format"
Possibly not a problem of SubDownloader, but a problem of the subtitle file. Have you tried uploading it manually? Same result? Then the problem could be that it is UTF-16. Only UTF-8 is supported.

So, first check the encoding and change it if needed.
If that doesn't work, try uploading manually.
If that doesn't work neither, let us know with a link to the file.

I already check that (UTF-8), open the files in notepad, encoding utf-8, save as.
And manual upload resulting the same error.

I re-sync / make this subtitles in Subtitle Edit v3.3.7 rev.1971, and uploading it using Subdownloader2.0.13
This is the first time this particular problem happen.
