using the subtitles

I have read everything about ttryig to get them to work, and none of them are working! I have WMP, Realpalyer, quicktime, cyberlink powerdvd, and I can not get the subtitles to work! In my directory i have babel.avi and babel.srt. How so I do this?

you say you tested "all"....but none of those you mentioned are recommended....
I always use BSPlayer and a lot of people here would tell you to use VLC Player...
why don't you try one of those 2 (even both) and see if it works?

Ok.. so what about a regular VTS movie?.. how do I add the subtitles to burn a dvd I can watch in the common regular dvd player??.. name the software.. I have tons.. and can't get the key to make it work.

To watch avi files with srt subtitles, you will not need too much.....
you must have some codecs ....
there are many ways to do it.
1- Download VOBSUB
2- if you do not want to install large files, codecs packs etc...
Just download windows media player classic from:
www.free-codecs.com
3- you will find VOB SUB too.
4- once downloaded and installed, just put the avi file( movie) and
and the srt file( subtitles) in the same "folder".
You can creat one, ex: my movie
put the subtitle file and the movie file, and rename them
at the same name, mymovie.avi (movie) mymovie.srt( subtitle).
5- run windows media player classic, be sure to have installed vobsub....
open file, brownse....the directory of the movie you want o watch.
