Bug in OSCAR g2v10.1?

Thu Jul 29, 2010 3:01 am

I tried to upload a subtitle for the movie "Dragnet" (1987). The subtitle was in English. There is only one English subtitle in OpenSubtitles for this picture (four subtitles in all languages):

dragnet.(1987).eng.1cd.(3310656).zip

I have re-synchronized this subtitle and made many corrections. When I try to upload the modified version, I get the message:

Subtitles already exist on OSDB server

What's up? Here is the session log.

Obviously, the API was down when I was trying to upload the subtitle, but nevertheless the program is giving the wrong message.

API is enabled only for logged users for time being. It seems our servers can not handle more than 10.000 simultaneous users online.

Hello, SimplyTheBoss.
I am happy to finally talk with someone who is really the boss :D .
As I already made it clear, the problem is due to the API being down, but what I tried to call the attention of the programmer to, is that the program is giving the wrong message. As a programmer myself, I know the importance of giving correct messages to the user, who may otherwise get confused. In this case, an inexperienced person may conclude the title is already in the database and quit on trying to upload it, while what he should do is wait until the problem with the server is fixed.
Greetings.

I agree, messages should be as they comes from response, the best - doesnt changed. Anyway, API is back, it is constantly overloaded, so response takes few seconds, but at least it works.

We will try to add some more power soon to get faster responses.
