Help Needed with Subtitle Ownership

Mon Apr 01, 2024 12:17 am

Hello,

I'm reaching out to address an issue I've encountered with certain subtitles. Upon recently joining the website, I made the decision to import my work from Subscene for added security in case of its closure. While I have generally been satisfied with the service provided here, I have noticed that certain subtitles I originally uploaded on Subscene have appeared anonymously on OpenSubtitles. Interestingly, they were uploaded on the same date and all bear my name credit, although some of these subtitles may have undergone minor modifications.

There are currently 4 subtitles requiring attention.

The first two, which I have failed to upload myself, have met with an error message indicating they already exist on the website.
Here are the links to these anonymous uploads (please transfer ownership to my profile):
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtit ... -shadow-en
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtit ... /shayda-en

The second pair, which I have been able to upload myself, has duplicate copies with minor modifications still existing.
Here are the links to these anonymous uploads (please remove them):
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtit ... go-home-en
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtit ... married-en

To confirm my ownership of the 4 anonymous links uploaded by someone else, I always tag my work with my email address ([email protected]), and my username on your website corresponds to my identity on this forum.

I appreciate your help in sorting this out and look forward to your prompt response.

Best regards,
Ramin

Hello Ramin,

They have all been assigned to your username by an admin.
I would recommend not showing your email address in public for your own personal security and privacy.

In the future for things like this, use the following method to report these things:

Welcome aboard. :D

And don't forget to also import your credentials to: https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/home using this form: https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/users/import

Thank you for your prompt response and for your gracious greetings.

Actually, I've attempted to import my work using the method you mentioned. However, I've encountered two issues. First, some of my subtitles did not appear. Could you kindly assist in resolving it? And second, I'm curious as to why my membership rank is labeled as a red 'sub-leecher' on the .com website. I've been consistently contributing by uploading subtitles, with a total of 20 uploads in just three days. I even went through the contact-us form on the .org website to address my concerns three days ago. However, my subtitles have not appeared in full, and I haven't received a response regarding my website rank yet.

I'm grateful for your consideration.

Best regards,
Ramin

Update:

I have fixed the second issue regarding my rank from my user profile. There was a link to reset the badge.

I'm sorry, but there must be some kind of misunderstanding somewhere. I didn't advise on how to import your subs.
You can upload your subs as normal through the webpage, but if the site says that the subtitle already exists, that's when you can use that report form and fill in your name at section 8 on the picture.
If I misunderstood, then please explain further with URL links.

As far as the .com website is concerned, please remember that site is still in BETA phase and not everything on there can be accurate as the .org version.
For any major issues and suggestions, you can always use this topic so the developers are aware:
viewtopic.php?t=16844

My responses can be delayed, as I don't seem to be getting any forum response notifications lately.
