Why don't subtitles use the length of the movie to find it?

It took a lot of work for me to find the right subtitles for my movie. I also don't get why the length of the movie from which the words were taken isn't shown in the subtitles.
The information you gave me really helped me find the right subtitles for the movie.
It would only take a flag at the very end of the movie.
