[ADMIN] NEW OpenSubtitles XBMC plugin

Tue Jun 02, 2009 9:13 am

Hello,

today I played little bit with my XBMC Media center on XBOX (also available for Mac OS, Windows and Linux) and I found nice OpenSubtitles plugin.

How TO install it:

1. download, extract and copy XBMC Zone Installer to Plugins/Programs
2. Go to Programs/Program plugins and run XBMC Zone Installer
3. Navigate to Plugins/Video and select OpenSubtitles (plugin) and confirm install
4. Go to Video/Video plugins and select OpenSubtitles ("right" click for options, you can select default languages and so on), navigate to videos and download subtitles :)

Thanks to Dan Dar3 for making this plugin, he also post some nice screenshots.

This plugin can be improved a lot but I haven't got around to do it.

Currently it runs as a separate thing that has to manually be used to search for subtitles. It could as easily be made part of the web scrapers that currently pull data from the APIs of themoviedb and thetvdb and pull subtitles just as easily.

As I said, I haven't yet got the time to do this, as it would need to be done in one of the skins initially as a proof of concept.

I agree with you Eduo, I think the best would be integrate opensubtitles to XBMC, like Boxee devs did.
