Urgent - Subtitles not downloading via UTF8

Sun Dec 20, 2015 1:03 am

Recently subtitles have stopped downloading via direct downloads encoded in UTF8.

As an example, here's a link to download Back to the Future:
http://dl.opensubtitles.org/en/download ... 1951896552

Instead of direct downloading the file, this link now takes you to a page for Back to the Future.

Is this a permanent change?

how you get this URL ? If from API, there is 'vrf' parameter, which needs to be present.

Hi,

I got this URL from a prior forum post: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15260&p=32215&hilit=UTF8#p32215
The response in this post, included this post: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14992

In Jan 2015, you wrote:
Change of character encoding
normally, when you download file, you get same file back, as was uploaded. You dont know the encoding, and that is causing mess. Now you can try to change encoding like this

URL for changing encoding:
http://dl.opensubtitles.org/en/download ... 1954602263
So I see UTF8 is now mentioned in the docs here: http://trac.opensubtitles.org/projects/ ... iki/XMLRPC
Is it necessary to use this vrf parameter, or is it possible the other URL could be used?

Cheers
Craig

vrf parameter needs to be used to avoid this problem. vrf parameter is used to avoid hard linking to files.
