Media player classic - Download subs

Tue Jul 01, 2008 10:37 pm

Hello,

media player classic allows downloading subtitles via menu:
File|Subtitle database|Download...
This opens a menu that contains subtitles, but unfortunately only one (and that in romanian language). But when looking here via browser I can simply find english versions.
Do you know what's the problem why media player classic only displays one subtitle? Is it a problem within subtitles.org or within media player classic?

Thanks in advance...

When you look for subtitles in mediaplayer you search using a special "fingerprint" for the video file called a "hash". This helps making sure the subtitle is exactly matched to the video file (and has no bad timings, for example).

When you search on the web you do so by name. There are always more results, but they may not fit your video file.

The point of the subtitle downloader in mediaplayer classic is that it should provide only "hash-matched" subtitles and, if not available, redirect to the website for name-searches.

Hi everyboddy,

Iam using subdownloader for the first time, so bare whit me please!

When i use the "search by movie title" option, i first get a "search for movies" popup box wich keeps searching and searchin and so on and on ... untill i had enough and abort it... then when i like to unfold the subtitle language tree from the movie i wish to download there it is again but now giving me "search for subtitle" and again it keeps searching and searchin and it never ends!!!

Is ther something i need to setup perhaps !!?

thanks in advance,

kabukski,
