file to tittle mapping tool

Mon Oct 22, 2007 2:25 pm

Hello,

Subdownloader is a great tool however i have a need but i cant find the right tool which can make it.

I would like a tool able to get for me the title of a movie based on the file name or better, a hash of the file. very close to what subdownloader is doing.

The goal is to create a csv file for example that will be used to be imported in a Divx database software like ant movie catalog.

Does anybody know if a such tool exists ?

If it does not exists, i think that a small modification to subdownloader could do it.
Since this soft is already able to do the hash part ?
The target soft i want would poll the opensubtile web site then grab the tittle of the movie instead of the subtitle file for download !

Thx for your feedback on this.

look at http://code.google.com/p/subdownloader/wiki/Hashing - so maybe you can code that yourself. Also look at http://code.google.com/p/subdownloader/wiki/XmlRpc_API and you will get the idea.

I am not sure, if it is good, what you want to do, there are still so many movies floating around, which aren't present on os.org. Currently hash db has more than 80.000 entries, but it is still not so much.

I thought about the code, but it will take me some time to understand.
If i want to devellop this for window, which environnement should i use ? python ?
In fact it would be few modification in the code.
I agree, about the fact not all divx have a subtittle.
But this feature of divx identification does not exists today !!!!
This would have great applications for various applications.

Thx.

yes I agree about hashing and so on. You can code that in everything as you want, sourcecodes are in almost programming languages available.

Hi! Some time ago I think abort code movie catalog. And have same idea us you. I want sold this idea to Ant Movie Catalog (but it is free and hi don’t pay me for it). Maybe you know any commercial movie catalog?;-)
----
Use Oskar:
1. Download.
2. Add folders recursive (ctr +alt +a)
3. Search for subtitles (ctr +S)
4. Export list –>list.txt

In list.txt you have IMDB numbers and filename.
I think that ant movie catalog have scripts that using IDBN number gets title.

My proposition is that you find Oscar author and torture him to add options for save title from imdb to export list. It is 1 minute of work for him!
----

Site admin have right abort that os have not much hashes. It is because to add has you must add subtitle. My proposition it that:
1. Site admin add new subtitle language "No subtitles only imdb number"
2. Site for this language will tolerate subtitles file that have 0 bytes length.

Anybody mustn’t modify XmlRpc_API and programs. I think that is 1 minutes work for You.
Nice day for you.

I played with this idea around one year back. It should be new project at all, and what are you writing - it is not possible - adding hash without subtitles - I am sorry :)

We'll be happy to help you make this catalog a reality, please fill out a bug in our Subdownloader2.0 site:

Isn't this being done in XMLRPC already? I implemented a file renaming functionality that does exactly this, using the movie hashes to get the IMDB ID and then from there the IMDB Data (and name).

The methods are already there, aren't they?

I implemented this feature and it will be available in next version. Command should also run in Linux environment (Mono project).

Usage examples:
SublightCmd detect "C:\video.avi"
SublightCmd detect "C:\video.avi" /type:title
SublightCmd detect "C:\video.avi" /type:imdb
