I like to add subtitles to legally purchased DVDs. Is this a feasible procedure and if yes: Is there any basic tutorial to help me get started? I always tries but don't get even through the first steps.....

there is software which allow that, just look at http://www.opensubtitles.org/en/downloads and read how to add subtitles to DVD.
