Re: LOGIN PROBLEM from weeks!

Sun Aug 22, 2010 12:45 pm

Now my login lasts exactly one page. It was holding for a bit a while back. now simply till the next page visit. eh well...

Solved by deleting cookies again. Now it looks like login lasts a little. Still, seriously, no need to put a timing on a login, imho.
I am logged into IMDB for a year, for example.
For me being logged in has never lasted even a full day. I used to complain about it in 2007 but I've learned to live with it (it's never been modified in the last three years, to my knowledge).

The problem is that it seems the access is reset every time something changes. Not just IPs (which doesn't make sense) but also web browsers. Coupled with the innecessary ajax-y username box that requires an extra click and doesn't allow a lot of browers to memorize the username and pass it's always a PITA.

yep, basically login holds for a little bit, then logout.
May be it's browser dependent, but after that I can't login in Opera, the login simply doesn't hold, I get a log out after moving to the next page. The only fix is to delete the cookie.
While I do that, it always amusing to see how much junk (ad cookies) gets shoveled into the browser with these pages.
eh well.

hi,

I am logged-in for few days, clickin around and working with website, everything works ok here. One glitch, which can causing this is maybe using applications.

that means - you are logged in on website, but then you use application (where you put your username and password), you login using this app, so original sessionid is deleted (I was fixing this...)

anyway, sessions are stored in memcache, and right now we are playing with server setup - but as I said, I am using FF3.6.3 and here works everything ok.

And one more thing - I fixed something in cookies today (there is some JS, which saves cookies for searchform, and it was bad implemented - it saves searchform for every page...)

hope this helps

Hello OS. Welcome back.

In my case I use the API a lot due to development. It had never occurred to me that could be linked to these sessions. It would explain a lot.

I understand this behaviout might be fixed in the future. I hope so but knowing why it was happening for me makes it much easier to bear.
