Fulltext Search API or URL-based querying?

Sun Jan 24, 2010 1:03 am

Hello.

How can we use fulltext search to search for subtitles?

We currently can search by hash and by imdb name, but there's no easy way to search by subtitle name. At least not one that I know that can be automatable.

Let's supposed I have the following two files and the hash search provides no results (there are results, they're just examples):

"Desperate.Housewives.S06E12.HDTV.XviD-2HD.avi"
"Sherlock Holmes (2009) DVDSCR XviD-MAXSPEED www.torentz.3xforum.ro.avi"

Currently only multisearch redirects me to some results, but multisearch can't be automated through POST or GET to get the results as /xml.

I'm not even sure if this'd be useful, but I'm assuming subtitles uploaded without moviehashes still get their names stored, and theoretically the above without the "avi" extension should provide results.

Also: The results should point to the subtitles linked to the name, not to the iMDB. Otherwise it wouldn't work for tv series (being redirected to the whole series is useless in this context).

Is this something that can currently be done in API or automatable web and I'm missing it or it just can't be done?

hi,

you can use API for fulltext searching, look at
http://trac.opensubtitles.org/projects/ ... hSubtitles

just pass "query => 'movie name'"

let me know, if is this what are you looking for. I want avoid fulltext searching as much as possible.
