There are also subtitles visible on opensubtitles.com who are not on opensubtitles.org.... The problem is tragically simple: DMCA. Copyrights owners have the right to force us to remove any content on their request.

Some Dutch user posted this in the Dutch section of the forum, I am just passing it through...

Apparently, some subs are present on the .ORG website but NOT on the .COM website. Things are unchanged for 'weeks', so I guess it's not a matter of waiting for some sync update. These are the subs that user mentioned:

Chicago Med season 9
Dutch subs for S09E05

The Good Doctor season 7
Dutch subs for S07E02
Dutch subs for S07E03
Dutch subs for S07E04

9-1-1 season 7
Dutch subs for S07E06
Dutch subs for S07E07

F.B.I season 6
Dutch subs for S06E02

Station 19 season 7
Dutch subs for S07E05

The Cleaning Lady season 3
Dutch subs for S03E08

for "weeks" ? I didn't get any report for missing subtitles, they can always use the https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/contact form

it's been explained a few times here that you can see where the subtitle is by clicking on "download (beta)" usually the problem comes from an episode saved as a movie

then if a problem occur, you can send links such as https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtit ... -you-go-nl links
or just the link to the TV serie itself like https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/tvshow ... station-19 I have a script I can run manually to lookup for the missing episodes

Sorry, misunderstanding.
I didn't mean it was reported and then nothing happened for weeks. I meant that user just did nothing, nothing has been reported. He/she just waited for weeks, because of maybe some update period. He/she didn't want to be impatient.

As I said: I am just the messenger.

Good evening.

The person who reported the missing episodes to smallbrother was me.

I wasn’t aware I needed to report the missing episodes through the contact page, common sense said that I needed to ask it in the Dutch forum section since it concerned Dutch subtitles, so I am terribly sorry if I upset anyone, it wasn’t my intention.

Smallbrother told me I could grab te subtitles from .org as well, but I just explained to him that I’m using kodi, and the .org api has stopped working, so that wasn’t an option unfortunately.

And how to download them to my kodi box and add them manually goes far beyond my knowledge, so I’m sorry for that as well.

But please allow me to recall what has been said, in the future you would like it to be reported through the contact page, and you would like to receive the .org link to the episode that is not present on .com?

I took a look on the .com database, and saw that a lot of episodes were added, for which I would like to thank you.

However from two series 1 episode is still missing.

That gives me the opportunity to test if I understood everything correctly, the following episodes are still missing:

https://www.opensubtitles.org/nl/search ... d-32034796

And

https://www.opensubtitles.org/nl/subtit ... remorse-nl

Did I do this correctly, or do you want me to go one layer deeper to the specific release?

If you could enlighten me on that I would be much obliged.

And of course I did it on this forum part right now, but in the future I’ll do that through the contact page.

And again sorry for the agrevation.

Cheers.

oh, no worries noone is upset, sorry I don't check all the localized forums.

ok so on the subtitle page, there is a "download beta" right above the normal download button

click on it, it'll take you to the new website https://www.opensubtitles.com/nl/subtit ... r-eztvx-to

Where you will see the subtitle is indeed imported, but the episode was saved as a movie

it's a common error, that's easly fixed case by case, but a mess to detect. I know it is stupid and should be fixed, I've been working on this for over 5 years, and can confidently say this code is a huge mess, and will NEVER fully work, and can keep me busy literally forever.

so the choise is either to work forever on these synchronisation, or finish the new upload system. Right now I need to implement the more robust sorting system, while bypassing it to allow the imports coming from opensubtitles.org.

Meanwhile as the opensubtitles.com api is live and very used, so I need to fix the titles, as explained I can really work 45 hours a week trying to track missing or wrongly allocated subtitles, if you want just a little example of what I need to deal with, just have a look at this tv serie, and how the episodes are allocated.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2930604/
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/60554-sta ... ls/seasons
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Rebels
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Rebels

IMDB is the main reference for tv series, we use these unique ID's to reference TV episodes, but there are IMDB episodes who become Movies on themoviedb, episodes 1&2 on one platform becoming 1 single episode on the other.

so there are also plenty of episodes who can't be accessed by the opensubtitles.org api, depending if the querying is done on the imdb or tmdb id's, and we're trying to solve that, the thing is that the system needs to be smart enough to adjust to the different contexts.

For now, both API's can find the lost or wrongly allocated subtitles with the text search

Anyways, I can still manually fix shows like the ones reported, if I get a link to the problematic file rather than trying to search for it with text search it can save a lot of time, so yes please do use the contact form to report.

If it is for missing episodes, you can just send a link to the tv serie https://www.opensubtitles.com/fr/tvshow ... station-19 where it is easy to see in the season list if episodes are missing, or as for the "star wars rebels" mentionned earlier, why some have such a mess with duplicated episodes https://www.opensubtitles.com/fr/tvshow ... ars-rebels (actually for the duplicates I don't have a good solution yet)

thanks for your understanding, we really need the user feedbacks.

No worries, I’m already happy that you are willing to help out, and it’s not “normal” to rely heavily on people who do this voluntarily, so again thank you for that.

Thank you also for giving me a bit of insight on how to report missing subtitles, next time I will report it on the contact page just by putting down the .com link to the season of the serie that is missing an episode, guided with a text which episode is missing. But before I do that I will check for my self on .org if there are subtitles for that episode, because I don’t want to bother you with things that aren’t there.

Also thanks for the tip on finding the episode by searching manually for them, off course this will fix my problem immediately, but if no one reports it to you, it will never be fixed, so I will continue to do so.

I know that this must be a struggle for you, and I tip my hat for you for doing it. Just like I explained to smallbrother on the Dutch section, I will say it here in English: I’m very happy with all the volunteers that are doing this to make my life more convenient, and I won’t take it for granted.

You guys are the best.

And last but not least: I hope you will find a solid solution for this without all the hassle, that will make your life easier too.

Cheers.

Hi everyone,

The subtitle for "The Madame Blanc Mysteries S03E00 - Christmas Special" is missing on the .com site, but it is available on the .org site.

You can find the subtitles here:
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... d-30094511

Could someone please transfer the subtitles to the .com site? :D

Thank you!

Hello!

I've found an issue where some subtitles have been uploaded (or copied across from opensubtitles.org automatically I'm not sure?) but have been categorised as movies and not as episodes in the series.

Here is what I'm looking at: https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/ja/sea ... d_sources-

When I was trying to get JA subtitles for The Apothecary Diaries via the API I was only getting up to episode 6 and then 14+ (with a few more missing afterwards). I did a manual search and as you can see from the URL the subtitles exist for the missing episodes but they are categorised as movies and not part of the series so are not showing up in the RSS/API results.

e.g. https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/subtit ... flix-ja-cc

I tried to click the "Correct" button but it's just opening the same page in a new tab. How can I correct these so I can fetch them from the API?

Many thanks!

Subtitles on .org not present on .com.

https://www.opensubtitles.org/pt/subtit ... thunder-pt

Why is it not possible to upload subtitles directly to .com? It's all a bit confusing with .org and .com.

Actually yes it was imported, but there was a problem with the redirection from the "download (beta)" button... funny noone noticed it before, thanks for reporting, it's fixed now
https://www.opensubtitles.com/pt-PT/sub ... download=1

for the uploads, it'll come hopefully.... Still stuck on various points, such as the episode numbering mentioned a few posts ago, really challenging to implement this while maintaining full synchronisation with opensubtitles.org (but we'll get there..)

Hi, I think it would be a great addition to add a parameter to every subtitle which specifies if it's an official retail subtitle (from DVD, Bluray or web download) or if it's a custom subtitle that someone has translated themselves, as I for one am only interested in retail subtitles (my experience is that most—not all, but most—custom subtitles are poorly translated and seldom usable.

Just a tip on how to improve this great site (the best subtitle provider on the net!) even further... :-)

Hi,

I moved your post to this topic.
I think it will not be possible to have that option in .org, but it will be possible in .com.
I had already suggested this to os_dev, i hope he didn't forget
