Upload IMDB is empty

Sat Nov 16, 2024 11:49 am

I used to upload subtitles by finding the movie/tvshow and then using the upload link (subtitles.org). For a few weeks now, the upload page (on a selected movie or epsiode) opens but the IMDB field is now empty. As I am manually uploading, this is a stopper for me.

I am uploading from dTV recording, so there is no way for me to calculate a file hash - and I cannot share my hash for legal resons. Over the years, I have not found Mac software which works for my use-case, so I am uploading manually.

Guess, I will stop uploading?

Hi

no, please dont stop upload. But write what are you EXCATLY doing. I tried and this works for me:
- go to https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload
- click to "search" - opens https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/imdblook/short-on
- write "matrix"
- click on IMDB ID which is copied to upload window.

In order to fix something we need to understand what is broken

thanks

https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search/subs
seach for "Last Seen Alive"
result is (Last Seen Alive 2022)
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... ie-1134850
click on Upload
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload
IMDB-ID is empty (this was working!)

https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search/subs
search for "Versailles"
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/ssearc ... vie-400622
(Versailles 2015 series)
open Epsode S2e02
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... id-5904140
click on Upload
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload
IMDB-ID is empty
(this is particularly tricky, as I need the ID for the correct epsiode, not the whole season, and not the individual download)

I tried with your two examples and none of them appear with empty imdb when i click on Upload
As as an example :

https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... id-5904140
click on Upload
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload ... db-5904140
IMDB-ID is not empty : 5904140

Even if it appears empty
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... id-5904140 ««««
The imdb number of the episode appears in the link /imdbid-5904140
If so, copy the imdb id before clicking on upload.
If the page appears without imdb id, just paste the imdb id.

Sorry the problem is right there:
On this link:
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... id-5904140
I click upload (while logged in)
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload
and yes, if I manually do open
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload ... db-5904140
the field is filled.

Looking at the link of "upload" (copy URL) it is https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload and not https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload ... db-5904140. I tried with Safari and Chrome - both same result.

Strange thing, this was working a few weeks ago. Something has changed?

Hope I’m understanding your question properly.

Auto-populate of IMDB ID entries as in your example:

https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/upload ... db-5904140

occurs when upload subtitles page is launched from the root page of a series, when accessing via the upload link listed under “Latest.” This pulls the related IMDB ID for the initial entry for the particular season and episode. Afterwards, link reverts to the latest entry upload date. Contents visibility can vary depending on settings: global or language specific.

Otherwise, upload links default to blank. Type search parameters in IMDB ID field or via adjacent search link, and make selection from displayed entries. Field should populate with the correct IMDB ID for either movie, or the series IMDB ID you require. For episodes uploads, if your naming convention is formatted correctly, the series IMDB ID should allow the individual episodes to parse into their proper season and episode designations.

Confirmed functionality on both Mozilla and Chromium browsers.
