So it seems what the last guy said is correct. There are 2 versions of open subtitles on Kodi: .org and .com. With the new.com, you have to import your account from.org to get it to work properly. This means you cannot used the.com unless you've activated this account. Many of us are still using the.org which should not have any issues. However, for some reason no subtitles show up in that particular version anymore. So, many of us probably downloaded the new .com and went into the authentication problem.

So I guess the real question is from here on out, how do we get opensubtitles.org to work? Because this add-on isn't showing any subtitles for any form of media even when signed incorrectly.

we have two addons, which are totally different.

opensubtitles (opensubtitles.org) addon -> you need to have opensubtitles.org account working and properly configured in addon
opensubtitles.com (opensubtitles.com) addon -> you need to have opensubtitles.com account working and properly configured in addon

the username and password are NOT SHARED between sites. So you have to import from opensubtitles.org to opensubtitles.com account, or if you have opensubtitles.com account and NOT opensubtitles.org account, you have to make NEW REGISTRATION on opensubtitles.org

From our side everything is working, usually it is misconfiguration on user side.

We can also try user accounts, if it really works.

For now, the issue about authenticating is still unknown, because we can not simulate the problem - so we have nothing to fix.

To add to what OSS posted...

For me, the confusion was the when I imported from opensubtitles.org to opensubtitles.com I was automagically given a DIFFERENT username than I have at opensubtitles.org. I had wrongly assumed that by importing my account that I was basically going to have one account with the same login for both sites. This is not how it works. After importing, I had a unique username/pass for opensubtitles.org and a unique username/pass for opensubtitles.com.

oh that's weird for the rename.... you can always change your username on opensubtitles.com in your profile to match your opensubtitles.org username
