The problem is I cannot see what file types you are talking about (the extension is not visible) and the URL you are getting this from. So that stops any solution or even reproduction.
And -once again-, personally I deeply and intensely hate updating and upgrading (too), (trust me, more than you do), but XP is not slightly out-of-date, but majorly out-of-date. It's not the first (or second) time I see you come across trouble, which I think is maybe only related to XP. Sticking to XP is kind of like having a subscription to trouble... Be advised that Win XP is not supported anymore for a looooong time, and you may (will!) be subject to any kind of trouble, varying from unsupported codecs to ransomware attacks. On top of that, hardly anybody is still using XP, so any help would be difficult.
