Many subs don't fit release

Fri May 22, 2020 9:22 pm

HI

I'm functionally deaf and need subs for everything. Most of the time I can find subs that fit the particular movie I have. However, numerous times, I can't find the subs anywhere or can't find properly timed ones.
Case in point: just downloaded "Childhood's End" (3 parts). There are numerous subs available at various subtitle sites. But non of the many fit this download.
I guess my question is how does this happen that out of at least 5 different versions of the subs - non of them are timed to the version I downloaded. Why would a download be "different" if they are all the same 1/2 hour or hour show.
Another series I have is "Murder in Suburbia" (British series from around 2005). I can't find subs anywhere, but I find it hard to believe that there are no subs for a 2005 series.
Hope I haven't asked too much, but any help would be great.
thanks

I will give you short hint: use some program, which is using our API, to download precisely timed subtitles. Read here more:

In addition:
Why would a download be "different" if they are all the same 1/2 hour or hour show.
Video files can have different frame rates and/or different cutting (take out advertising blocks of HDTV rips, for example). Resulting, you can have a whole bunch of video versions of the SAME show, but with completely different timings. That's why not all subtitles match all video files.

By using software as Oss pointed out, this matching is done automatically. Mind you, also then there can be mistakes and mismatches.

Another method is searching manually on the website, choosing subtitles which are stating to match your video file. Or first look for available subs, and then find the matching video file.
Nowadays a VPN is a must for everyone. A VPN allows you safe surfing and protects you against spying governments and companies.
I advise AirVPN - from € 2,75 per month. Click the below banner for more info.
