delete the spam

Wed Apr 28, 2010 6:50 am

It seems a good idea, when OS is back, that he authorizes someone (if he is the only one at the moment) who can delete this mohsenijaby-crap, who floods the forum and maybe freeze his/her account.

When the cat is away, the mice will play. ;-)

Not a bad idea.

I find it amusing when spam attacks this specific topic. :)

Is there a way to delete all of a user's posts in one go? I can ban spammers and delete all their posts manually, but I can't find a way to delete all posts from a banned user in one go.

Also, topics could be auto-locked after a year or so without updates.

I guess OS hasn't had the time to figure it out, yet! I'll try giving the moderators this permission if it's available. All I know is, only administrators (site admin) have that function (which is silly, really). If this function can be transferred to the moderator group, I'll do it ASAP! :D

scooby, don't worry. Yes, it would be much easier but i have so much time that i can delete them one at the time.

I normally can, but I read a lot of emails on the iphone, and it's a pain to do them manually there. Especially since it's usually over 10 posts to delete. Lots of zooming in and out because of the very small buttons on the screen :)

@ eduo

I imagine it will be to slow to do it on the phone, too

@ theboss

I'm glad you feel that way, because I've tried everything and eventually ended up going to the phpBB help forum; they say that function isn't available, but it may be included in the updated software in the future. Until then, we'll have to manage :D

Guys, I just did something. Can anyone check if you are able to delete multiple posts of one user now? Make sure and play around! :D

Just checked with a new spam. Had to go through all of them. What should I've seen different? No option for multiple removal.

To be honest, I don't know what you should have seen, but if you couldn't figure it or see it, then that means it won't be there. There's this new Mod tool that we can add to the existing software, I'll have a word with OS and see if he thinks we should install it. Right now you guys (moderators) have full power on the board, you just can't access the features of the ACP (Administration Control Panel).

let me know, which plugin is good for fighting against spam, also I dont have a problem to give you rights to delete users posts. Nowadays I am deleting that f*cking spam manually - I go to ACP, administrate user, delete user and delete all of his posts. But this doesnt stop them from registering again and again. I am not sure, if they have some programs for this, or they use Indian people to get registered here...

It's all automated, really.

There's no easy solution. Something you can do is implement a captcha. Just one that is not too annoying to posters :)

I also delete all posts by the user, but I have to delete them one by one. If there was a way to delete all posts by a user when banning them it would be ideal. I was surprised to not see that as an option.

There are mods for phpbb do single-click bandeletes, I believe.

I'm sure captcha is on and new users need to go through that process before registering. It's probably users posting links that get paid to do it through some companies out there that do this.

@ oss try looking at the following forum topic on phpbb: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2139075

I tried everything they recommended, but it doesn't seem to work. There is also a module in that link that we can install (ban hammer mod) to give the Moderators the permissions to be delete multiple posts at once. Right now only we can delete all posts of a user through the ACP, but the Moderators can't do that. They have to do it one-by-one!

I meant captcha for posting.

The accounts may be created by hand, but the posts are obviously being created automatically.
