On-Screen Keyboard

Sat Dec 11, 2021 7:06 am

What is this now? I am teased by the On-Screen Keyboard, whenever I select something I work with in full screen, it retreats and I can’t type. I can only do it when I lower the window. It has happened to me before, I don't know how I solved it, or it improved on its own. Does anyone have any advice.

I'm sorry, buddy, but you think I'm named Dave and work for Microsoft support? Lol.
You using a tablet or PC with touch screen?
I'll still try to help, if I can. But may take time responding.

Usually on a tablet/touch screen you can switch it off from keyboard settings.
Look for that first and experiment.
Depending on the device, you can also just slide the keyboard downwards off the screen with a swipe. Swipe from the top of the keyboard.

Good luck

Try this :

Disable the Touch Keyboard in Ease of Access

To get there, open the Start menu and type “ease of access”. Press Enter when the Ease of Access Center option appears. From there, click “Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard.” Uncheck the “Use On-Screen Keyboard” checkbox.

Well, it looks like that method is for newer versions of windows.
For windows xp :

You should be able to disable it using the Win-U shortcut to bring up the 'Utility Manager', select the on-screen keyboard, and uncheck Start automatically when I log in.

EDIT :
To block OSK.EXE from running, you could find it (%WINDIR%\System32\OSK.EXE), go to Properties | Security, and change the permissions on it to remove the Read and Execute permission from users that you wish to block from using it.

If run again, then do that :

Use cd, tested with my VERY old pc

c:\Users\username>cd\
c:\>cd windows
c:\windows>cd system32
c:\windows\system32>takeown /f osk.exe //success here represents you now have admin rights to change its permission
c:\windows\system32>cacls osk.exe /e /c /d %username% // this will deny it from every user

https://superuser.com/questions/418753/ ... windows-xp

Btw, using XP is definitely safe to use XP :)
