As mentioned above, a very dirty quick-fix (without any testing) is now available in the latest g2v13 beta version that can be found at the application web site (http://oscar.dunres.sk/) ...

I just removed the subtitle file contents hash comparison in this one and hopefully didn't mess up anything else in the process.

If you notice any problems (other than remote server problems/timeouts ;), let me know.

Always check the "Log" tab for any information that might be useful when trying to figure out what the problem is.

Enjoy.

Hey, that was a quick fix =)

But unfortunately I got another problem with g2v13. The log is below:

Downloading selected subtitle files, please wait ...
OSDb: Trying NoOperation ...
OSDb: NoOperation succeeded, time taken 0.005
OSDb: Trying to download subtitles ...
OSDb: Downloading subtitles, part 1/1 ...
OSDb: Download subtitles succeeded, time taken 0.959
OSDb: Error occured when saving subtitle file to Z:\<path-to-my-avi-file>(Anonymous).srt ...
Finished downloading subtitle files ...
END: Finished downloading subtitle files, time taken 0.959 ...

Ps.: I did not have this kinda of a problem when using g2v12, never had. I actually tried redownload the same subtitles i did download when g2v12 used to work, and got this error, every time I tried... ( I do have write permissions on the folders and free space )

Sorry, it seems I missed one check when quick-fixing it yesterday.

Since I can't seem to get the application working with the remote server these days (not sure what the problem is and I don't have much time to investigate), here's another update for this g2v13 without any testing.

You can download it at the application web site (same link, same version, just a different EXE file).

Hopefully we won't get to the part where "third time is the charm" :))

Re: ERROR ON USING

Tue Feb 01, 2011 3:14 am

Hello Simply The Boss:

I just started to use Oscar and I got the same error every time:

``Search: failed with error SearchSubtitles: exception Item is n a array type``
Even after I downloaded the latest version g2 v10.1, it`s the same result. Is it because I have windows 7, or is it because of my brand new laptopPC

Thank you.

Never mind. I installed the latest version(beta) and it's working fine. Get a few choices of syncronized subtitle files for every AVI files I specified. It's great! I'll test it a few more times and if it works well I might send in a donation! Good work Oscar!

Re: OSCAR G2V13 - Container Error?

Fri Apr 29, 2011 8:23 pm

I get this entry in LOG file when trying to add AVI files to the search window:

"an exception occured: Field 'Container' not found"

Am I doing something wrong?

You are NOT going to believe this... I solved the problem by DELETING the MOVIE Cache file (movies.omc) in the "cache" Directory. Now, Fresh installation - All works Great!

Why include this movie cache (movies.omc) if it's going to cause problems?

I recommend you don't include this file in future releases. This must have been the problem back in 10.1 before I gave up on it, and started my life of downloading Subs, manually. (That got OLD real quick!)

1) if you read (or searched) this topic you would have found the solution (on previous page)
2) the movie cache file is not included in the release (it's automatically created when you first run the application, so a fresh install always fixes the problem)
3) the movie cache file is very important as it improves performance by caching the video file hashes. The purpose of this cache obviously isn't to "cause problems" and it most definitely will be included in future releases.

Sorry for the inconvenience, next time try searching/reading first ...

I just released a new beta version of Oscar (g2v14).

New features include:
- Report wrong hash

- Add comment

If anyone's interested, it's available on http://oscar.dunres.sk/

Enjoy.

Thanks Majky. Your effort is really appreciated. Oscar is by far the best OS app for downloading/uploading subs.

You need to add .rar to the video file list in case the movie is intended to be played from a store archive.

What's the source license and where's the source code?

Thanks!
