Subber (Download/Upload subtitles)

Fri Nov 17, 2017 1:40 am

Subber is a small app that can help you with most of the subtitle-related problems.
With this app you can:
  • ● Find subtitles from your preferred languages (using OpenSubtitles.org, Podnapisi.NET and SubScene.com).
    ● Download the (auto-selected) best, or all of them.
    ● Automatically rename them with the name of your video, so that the media players can recognize them.
    ● Save them using the preferred encoding (UTF-8/ANSI)
    ● Convert between encodings (UTF-8/ANSI)
    ● Upload your subtitles to OpenSubtitles.org
    ● Clean up the filenames of the episodes from any tv series using the TheTVDB.com
    ● Easy to use drag & drop interface with Dark or Light skin.
I made this app for my personal use but I thought that maybe it will help other people too.
Any feedback or bug report is appreciated.
I will try to fix any problems if possible...
The app's page is here: http://www.noembryo.com/apps.php?subber

You can now translate Subber to your native language.

    Fixed:
    ● No dark theme for the Series Selector dialog.
v1.15.1.0

v1.15.0.0
  • Added:
    ● Option to "Auto search" subtitles when drag&dropping videos.
    ● Dialog to inform user for "Too Many Requests" from OpenSubtitles (API RATE LIMIT of 40 requests per 10 second per IP Address).

Thank you for trying Subber.
It should run without any compatibility setting.

Can you check if there is an error_log_XXXX-XX-XX XX:XX:XX.txt (the Xs are date and time) inside the C:\Users\***Your User Name***\AppData\Roaming\Subber\ directory?
If there is, please post it here.

It might explain why the app is crashing..

I did not find the Subber folder in the Appdata / Roaming folder but tried to run Subber in the portable version also to no avail.

The file that the portable version generated in a file called "Report.wer" is attached.

Can you check if there is a folder called "portable_settings" in the Subber folder.
If there is, it might contain the "error_log_xxxxxx.txt file.
If you want to run it like portable, you have to move the Subber folder out of the Program Files directories because windows does not allow programs to create files in their directories there.
Also check if there is some antivirus that is blocking something there.
The file that the portable version generated in a file called "Report.wer" is attached.
Actually this is a windows created file that says that the program crashed.
I don't see any info as to a reason for this, but then again, I don't know the codes the Microsoft uses.
If there is no Subber folder in the AppData/Roaming folder it means that the program didn't even start.
I've check it in two different Win10x64 environments (english) and its working.
And although it is not needed, you could also try to run it as an administrator (I'm getting out of options here... :o)

Can you add a option to change the language of subs when uploading?

Example:

Subber detects Portuguese in my subs, but they are Brazilian Portuguese and I want to change they before I upload then.

The option to edit the subtitle's imdb id and language, after detection, is in my todo list, but I have to find some time to implement it.
Hopefully soon enough... :)
