Subtitle exists, but cannot find it with automatic search

Thu May 11, 2017 10:55 pm

Hello,

First, congrats for your work !

I'm french and i met a problem with the opensubtitles addon on Kodi.
TV Show : The 100
Season : 04
Episode : 11
Filename: [S04E11] The.100.S04E11.HDTV.x264-SVA23.mkv

I've correctly set the plugin in Kodi services settings, automatic search is searching english AND french sub.
For most tv shows, i can download subtitles without manual search.
But for these episodes of The 100, the automatic search doesn't work, found ONLY english subtitles... BUT, if I do a manual search "The 100 S04E11" i can see the french subtitles https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtit ... er-side-fr

Do you have any idea ?
Thanks for advance

The answer is simple: this subtitle was uploaded manually and therefore doesn't have any hash code attached to it.
Without such hash code your software cannot find it. This is not Kodi-specific, but all similar software has the same problem.

That's why:
- if you cannot find your subtitle automatically, do a manual search on the web site.
- if you upload subtitles, use some kind of software which sends a hash code with it.

Sooner or later, a hash code will be added by some video player. Then it will be possible to find this subtitle.
Nowadays a VPN is a must for everyone. A VPN allows you safe surfing and protects you against spying governments and companies.
I advise AirVPN - from € 2,75 per month. Click the below banner for more info.
