Looks like something is broken:
When dropping a video file inside the video pane, the IMDb ID field doesn't get filled.
After some waiting time I get an error saying "something went wrong".
When I manually input the IMDb ID the whole thing repeats, same result.

I have tried with different IMDb ID's, on different moments, after rebooting, and all the other obvious solutions, but no solution.

Can anybody confirm/deny the problem?
And a fix would be nice too

Let's hope he can, because this sure sucks.

I had to use the site-form to upload a subtitle today. Three times! A lot of typing that is otherwise automatically done by OpenSubtitles Uploader.
But the program refuses to work without an IMDb ID. It can't find it, and manually entering it also results in an error.

Has anyone considered reporting the issue on GitHub? https://github.com/vankasteelj/opensubt ... der/issues

To be honest, I think this is coming from a issue with IMDb...
IMDb doesn't have an API and they are changing (crucial) stuff every single minute...
Not good.

Seems to be working today, the issue was:

Call: Response: I believe I can safely make that error not fatal, as it is used mostly to confirm the ID you entered is correct by displaying some IMDB infos + a backdrop

Hmm... just got 2.3.0 and tried to upload something, but I get an error "Something went wrong".
Still/again API trouble on opensubtitles?
Trouble with the uploader?
Or is it me?

Sorry, I was too fast. Apparently the problem occurs only with one specific subtitle/video. With other subs/movies things are fine.
Weird.

It looks like the method to add hashes to existing subs doesn't work anymore.

The method would be:
1 - Upload an existing subttitle with a video file
2 - The subtitle will be rejected (the subtitle already exists)
3 - The program will give an 'error' saying that the subtitle already exists, but confirming that the hash code and file name are added.
4 - Some time later the hash and file name for the video will be added to that existing subtitle. This could take a while (sometimes up to almost two days or so).

Lately (I guess for some weeks, maybe months) everything goes as described - except step number four.

the hashes and file names were added a couple of weeks ago.

No idea if this is a problem of the Uploader or of the OpenSubtitles system.

I use V2.30.
I regularly upload OCR'd retail DVD srt files, and since I ripped the DVD myself there is no matching "release". Film files I ripped are not distributed.
However, the SRT files I make can be very useful, so I upload these.
I was asked to put DVD-rip (or OCR DVD-rip) in the releasename box so I do that.
The problem is that whatever I write in the releasename box gets ignored, with or without the filmfile present in folder.
Yes, I tried without the film file in the folder, The releasename was overwritten with "truncated" srt name.
(When I did that, I pasted the IMDB number in myself. This works.)

So, at the moment I have to work online because otherwise SmallBrother would bust a nut.
Well, think about it. I estimate I have another 300 to 350 retail srt pulled from DVD to publish, and that would mean as many interventions (releasename edits) by SmallBrother, which is unnacceptable.
Please HELP?

SB will agree that for uploads of srt to known releases (mostly resynchs, or corrections made to substandard subs) there is no such problem because the filename is the releasename.

additional info; OS used is windows 10 Pro.
No external JAVA package installed (I use edge and chrome and firefox, and don't want unsafe java plugins.)

The problem Smallbrother pointed out to me was that when I uploaded thru the latest version of this tool, the releasename was misleading as there was no known release by that name. (I scanned IDX/SUBs from DVD I ripped for personal use. The Films never get in a turrent.)
The SRT files, however, are useful (they can be resynched).
Their releasename was not. So Smallbrother asked I fill in OCR-DVD-rip or similar.
And I did that.
The problem is that when people like me write a name like "RETAIL OCR DVD-rip" in the box for releasename, this field gets overwritten with the SRT filename (without extention)(what I called truncated filename).
So, Smallbrother had to go over a whole lot of my uploads, and I had another 500 files to do still (not all need to get uploaded, but I guessed there were to be another 300 uploads.)
So, I currently again upload online which takes more time. (and that is because this tool works the way it does.)

Let me add a little something, as I think oss may be misleaded about what is actually the problem.
( He might think *I* am the problem )

- Take the uploader of vankasteelj
- Make a subtitle file which is called (for example) Nice_Movie (2010) dut.srt
- Load this into the uploader
- Check IMDB ID so that it is matching (in this example fictional movie name) Nice Movie of 2010
- Write as release name OCR DVD-rip
- Upload

Now the subtitle appears with release name Nice_Movie (2010) dut (i.e. the same as subtitle file name minus the extension SRT)
But it SHOULD have been OCR DVD-rip
