Retime subtitles without wasting time, your way?

Sun Dec 13, 2020 11:58 am

Hello,
if you are modifying existing subtitle file timing to fit different video file, how you are doing that so you spend least time on it?

I am spending hours sometimes on single subtitle file for 45 minutes video.
I am using Aegisub and i am shifting time from first desynced subtitle to the last subtitle in file, i usually do it back and forward like 40 times + i have to adjust lets say 50 subtitles timing manually so it start exactly when people speak. This 50 adjustments needs maybe 7 clicks each.
Can you please share on which program and method/keys you are using to spend least time on subtitle retime? Thank you in advance.

The free program Subtitle edit by nikse.dk has some options to adjust the subtitles. you can adjust the speed in % or adjust the framerate from 23.975 BD to 25 DVD or TV.

I use subtitle workshop.
There are subtitles that do not take long to synchronize and others that take more work/ to synchronize

You can try this :
https://github.com/sc0ty/subsync/releases

Select the file . srt
Select de file of video
adjust the time, that is the time or duration of the movie for which you want to synchronize the subtitle.
And then click on start.

there are better ways where the program is analysing video file for its audio peaks (where ppl speaking) and try to suggest to retime offset
