Failed to Download subtitles on kodi

Hi I have kodi on my firestick and I've added opensubtitles.org and every time I go to add subtitles to a movie it's coming up with the message failed to download subtitles. Can anybody advise me how to fix this as I seem to have added everything correctly as per kodi instructions in setting this up. I have both of the opensubtitles.org add ons on kodi and none of them are downloading subtitles to the movie. I'm getting the failed to download message for both entries. Regards Ally

What is the error message EXACTLY?
WHY is the downloading failing?
Is it happening ALWAYS, or just with this or that movie/language?
Anyway, when I read about download problems with Kodi, the first thing I think about is this:

This has been the problem/solution in 99% of the cases.

Terrarium had same problem and just fixed it in their new August 2017 update. Something has changed at opensubtitles & kodi developers are not up to speed it seems.

I have kodi on my fire stick which I've set up correctly with what was on the website for firesticktricks.com help with the subtitles. Yet I get NO subtitles at all?
Can anyone help?
