Re: guidelines for subs

Interesting page, though it is highly anglocentric, so much of it makes no sense in a language other than English.

Re: guidelines for subs

Personally, I follow the Code of Good Subtitling Practice , which is endorsed by the European Association for Studies in Screen Translation. Sadly these guidelines fall awfully short of practical advice. A "regular viewer reading rythm" is highly subjective, whereas "35 characters pe...

Re: Why should i use software for upload?

It does not seem to quite work. I uploaded Slovak subtitles for a movie (I actually had to listen to the soundtrack and type it all by hand because the DVD had no subtitles). Then I used SubDownloader to upload the hashes, and that worked just fine. I then translated the subs to English and uploade...

Re: 3D movies subs section

This is like an extension on sub/idx subtitles (which are not text but graphical, already) since no text format at the moment can *be* 3D (this should be, as OSS says, an "effect" added by the player, regardless on whether none support it at the moment, which is only proof of how uncommon,...

Re: I can't get last 64k, what is best methode then?

The hash works only as you've seen: First and last 64K. For multi-part RAR files the usual is to implement routines to parse numbering schemes to find the last segment and use that to get the last 64K. It's already supported by dozens of applications out there, so it's clearly doable. You'll need to...

Re: Query by Season/Episode - Crazy results

good, I also implemented some magic :) Anyway, I would like to see new SolEol, so when you release the one with new GUI, please let us know.
As soon as this other project leaves me with enough time to get it done:

Re: Query by Season/Episode - Crazy results

http://pastebin.com/WcCCdbe2 http://pastebin.com/tKngCiAR there was error in code, thanks for good find (episode and season filters was not applied), it should be fixed now. Also, there is applied parsing of query, you can read about it more here: http://forum.opensubtitles.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&a...

oss: Thank you! That exactly the information I was looking for. eduo: Im sorry if I came across as rude, english is not my first language and sometimes I do not get the finer points of my writing perfectly. But I do think my question is valid (and not connected to "self-restraint" in any ...

Query by Season/Episode - Crazy results

So, I was testing some stuff today. I drop "True Blood 3x08 - Night on the Sun.avi" onto SolEol to check something and let it rip. Doesn't find any subs in english (weird, but OK) so it tries to find subs by name. I have it set to search by "query", season and episode, if present...

Re: Is there a maximum number of downloads per day?

"50-100 subtitles" is hardly "the first couple of subtitles".

In these cases, clearly, a bit of self-restraint is in order. Slowly building up your library of subtitles downloading 100 a day (you can't see 100 videos a day, so it shouldn't be a big problem).

Re: New API Method: ReportWrongImdbMovie

A more common problem is that a moviehash is linked to correct IMDB but wrong release. So Subtitle should still appear when searching by IMDB but not by hash.

Re: What you are using to organize movies?

Eduo, when you will release your beta of SolEol ? :) At this rate, it'll take as long as it took to get TV Series support :D :D :D No, seriously. I re-wrote it from scratch a month ago, so I'm currently cleaning up the major functionality. I've been able to shave so much time of the scanning and pa...

Re: SubDownloader 2.0.13 NEW!! April 2012

Exactly. You don't mention anything other than quoting the definitions so I assume you agree with what I said (which is what the license and definitions mean). Isn't it surprising how many people miss the point of the GPL? GPL doesn't have anything to do with money. The GPL (or copyleft) doesn't req...

Re: SubDownloader 2.0.8 RELEASED!!

Yeah and have in mind that you will help translating a GPL'ed application that is SOLD to Windows users for €15.00 ( http://www.subdownloader.net/buylicense.html ) :D  I just noticed this and thought to clarify a common confusion: GPL nowhere says software shouldn't be sold. What GPL does is o...

Re: TV Series coming soon

I guess I'm not being clear. I'm talking from an automation point of view. These episodes are placed arbitrarily and they don't follow a pattern. The specific example of "24" might be labeled as "0" by IMDB but in reality they might be labeled any whichever way. The point is not ...
