Re: Error: Unsupported subtitle format for CD 1?

Aha. It's not a bug, it's a feature. Image
In this case we spare the possibility that opensubtitles.org will be flooded with songtexts.

Re: Error: Unsupported subtitle format for CD 1?

Sorry, I don't get it. http://i.imgur.com/SkQUA.gif It must be a softwaresided bug. Amongst other things I even created a complete new file in the subtitle editor and wrote the timing and the text manually new. It also can't be a question of size. I added new lines so the file was about 30 kb, but s...

Re: Please help newbie

...but Rusalka has a point too Well, let me think about this point. What's the last consequence of it? With Rusalkas "reason" you can't allow anybody make something for free, cause someone somewhere somewhen in the world wants to make money with it. And you don't find that a bit odd? What...

Re: Please help newbie

that´s just crazy. This is so bad for the translation industry and of course the movie industry too. Yes. And Linux was bad for Microsoft and Apple. This sucks! All these ppl having too much time or too much money to translate movies. Or they have an ideal to share their work for free with other pe...

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

As a Ubuntu user, I simply use gedit which is preinstalled and handles everything me2. Simple but extensive. For Windows, I used Editpad Lite (freeware). http://www.editpadlite.com/ It's the best Notepad replacement I know. Or Notepad++ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notepad%2B%2B I used it under Win...

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

Very good. So remains the subject of adding/replacing lines in the file. As inserting a line at the right begining of the file seems to be a problem, maybe for now on it would be enough to add one only as the last line ? I agree. Many of my friends have told me that they are angry about this first ...

Re: guidelines for subs

But what if a good translation brings you let's say three lines of 60 chars, and/or too little time to actually read it? Should one (or, would you) choose for a slightly shortened translation, too long lines, or too short time? That's really a difficult problem. Too long or maybe 3 lines are not go...

Re: guidelines for subs

Some rules are good, some not. It's not wrong to consider them, but you should not slavishly stick to it. My personal position is, that we should translate the spoken language very carefully, without reduction. I've spoken with deafs and all of them were dissatisfied about shortened subtitles. So pe...

Re: subtitle workshop

I like VisualSubSync's waveform much better.
That looks nice too.
Thx.
I will tell it my friends who work under Win. Maybe it's interesting for them.

I work with these: viewtopic.php?p=10539#p10539

Re: subtitle workshop

If you really want to change the program and you work under Windows I recommend SubtitleEdit:

http://www.nikse.dk/SubtitleEdit

The great advantage of the program is its waveform, a fast way to sync and adjust the timings.

Re: Help needed for subtitles

It won't matter how you change the styling of the subs in your PC, because when you put it on a standalone player it will always use their own style for the subs... Except you convert the .srt in an ass, change the font, size, position, color etc. in the header as you like it and then hardcode thes...

Re: Hard-coding SRT file into MKV movie file---HELP!

My ultimate goal is to have the movie (with subtitles on full time) in VOB format for play on a stand alone DVD player (converting the MKV or AVI file into DVD format is easy for me with the software I already have). When your Standalone is not older than 4 or 5 years it should play avis as well, s...

Re: Translator newbie

Hello stargazer500 http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/9889/winke.gif What kind of software do I need to download to write the subtitles in? Where can I find the originas scripts belonging to the films? And so on... It depends from your OS. If you use Windows, I would suggest Subtitle Workshop or Aeg...
