Re: Why can't I add smilies?

Smilies are enabled all over the forum: board-wide settings, settings of posts, you can even have a smilie in your signature. I see some smilies in your post, I mean as images. So the only thing I can think of, is that it's on your side. Check this setting: User Control Panel > TAB Board Preferences...

Re: How trustworty are the subs on opensubtitles.org?

But give me a well-defined interface. Now, every time I download a file, the first thing for me to do is to detect the encoding and convert. There is a point in for example adding an input field with "encoding", but once again, most people don't know about the concept. So what will happen...

Re: How trustworty are the subs on opensubtitles.org?

Don't worry, it IS already unmanageable - but we manage ;-) For example, with this film, "The princess bride", several uploads add nothing to existing subtitles. No, sorry. They add a lot of errors. It is not that they aren't better, they are even clearly worse than the existing subtitles ...

Re: How trustworty are the subs on opensubtitles.org?

But, there isn't some kind of tool to do it automatically? At least, very basic things like OCR errors or line length. I'm not talking about grammatical analysis. Any subtitle software will show instantly lines that are too long. OCR error detection is a bit more sophisticated and typically/often i...

Re: How trustworty are the subs on opensubtitles.org?

See also what I wrote here , which btw, belongs more here, then there. But anyway - you surely have a point. But what is the solution? How long did it take you to analyze your example? I can only repeat my conclusion: we need the help of users . With rating, comments, reports. There are two million ...

Re: HOW TO CORRECT/REPORT SUBTITLES GUIDE

I don't see the need for different subtitles with fixed time shifts. Well, this can be discussed. For some users a simple resynch is 'too much'. They are very happy with the same subtitle just shifted three seconds or so. Not to mention when the synch is stretched or squeezed as well. But deleting ...

Re: Move back to site

ok, so it is not possible to change it for you, when I click on logo, it will go to forum, but everything else will stay same ? No. in the ACP panel I can add an URL (http://www.opensubtitles.org) and a name (OpenSubtitles.org) and this changed the breadcrumb to how it is now. I think phpBB made it...

Re: Move back to site

well, over there would be nice to put our logo :) If no logo there, clicking on phpBB should lead to forum :) I can only fill out some fields in the web based interface. Hacking the script is for those who have server access. Thank you. This was very quick. Albert Einstein used me as reference. [Ed...

Re: Interviewing subtitlers

@ Gallician Thanks for your interest and the feel of respect. Feel free to post your questionnaire here. One of the questions could be to ask for permission to use the answers - any 'yes' would then be "in writing". @ anybody wanting to cooperate: WARNING and ADVICE : - React ONLY by PM or...

Re: subdownloader: where are the subtitles?

the moviehash code paired with subtitles must be same as your movie hash code Ah, of course... so what could be the case is: - there are 14 subtitles existing - (true), - 13 subs have one or more hash codes - (true), - but only 3 subs are actually matching your video file - (i don't know). Well, if...

Re: subdownloader: where are the subtitles?

I agree that it's at least confusing or misleading if software cannot find subs that do exist. The reason is that there is no hash, so in that sense technically it is correct - but hardly anyone knows this. Maybe this is what hector means by "not trusting the software". But even with that ...

Re: Move back to site

I am sorry, my previous answer was a bit lame and confusing joke - yes, I meant the link back was in the post of suadnovic. But now it is really present, in the 'breadcrumb' top left side: Opensubtitles.org > Forum > English > General Talk The forum software had to be updated first, before I could m...

Re: subdownloader: where are the subtitles?

I don't know about your specific case / example, but in general the web site shows all available subtitles and software only the subs with a hash code available.
That could be the reason - my wild guess is that only three subs have a hash code and by coincidence they are the last three.

You are right, there is no link from the forum to the subtitle site - if that is what you meant.
However, now there is one ;-)
