Re: GetIMDBMovieDetails

Quick note: As I recall, the ampersand is forbidden in most cases for XML (and I believe XMLRPC is one of them). This may be the reason it shows by default encoded and why it may be an "error" if in the API it ever shows decoded.

Re: Subtitle Requests: 'Subtitle Creation in Process' flag

Did this go anywhere? Wouldn't it make more sense to ally with a subtitle creation site like Addic7ed and just interface both sites? From their site it's easy to know if a subtitle is missing, in process or "complete". All "edit" actions would take the user to that site and all &...

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

I'm completely against subtitles, by the way.
I have a hard time believing that. Image
Damn. I meant Subtitle credits :)

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

So, if the API users were the target of the ads let me say that this goal is partially a failure. On the contrary. If the API users were the goal of the ads and 100% of API users are getting the ads then the goal is a complete success. If the goal was to get 100% of web downloads with the ads then,...

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

problem is fixed, it was caused by utf-8 header, yeah, that utf-8 thing, preg_match, preg_replace doesnt like it with ^ operator.... For now 'top' ads stay there, I tried to remove it, but it is not so easy, as I thought. mb_internal_encoding('UTF-8'); Or add (*UTF8) at the beginning of your patter...

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

.... it seems the problem got fixed. The first line isn't replaced anymore. Tried it today.... Sorry, but I've also tried and the problem remains, when the subtitle have one line in or before the first second continues to be replaced by the ads. I can't avoid questioning, it's really necessary? Rig...

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

This debate reminds me of my cchool Days, my father's car is better :) Personally I don't like special characters (♫ etc) in subtitles When I went to school, we didn’t have cars because it was near impossible to buy one in Communist Czechoslovakia. Anyway, how do you let the hearing impaired know t...

This debate reminds me of my cchool Days, my father's car is better :) Personally I don't like special characters (♫ etc) in subtitles Some languages are *made* of "special characters". It's not a matter of personal preference whether they're needed, since chinese, greek or russian subtit...

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

Interesting... The lines don't appear to logged-in users, but I can see how they'd be a problem for logged-out users downloading subtitles. I'll forward this topic to the " admin homepage " section where oss can have a look at it and he'll respond to you here. Thanks for the report. I jus...

Re: Problems with the addition of new lines in the srt files

I hadn't noticed that the Open Subtitles "ads" were changing the encoding of the subtitles, but it may explain some issues I'd found in some subs and some reports I used to get from SolEol users. I assume something has been done, as the "ads" are now coming in english in spanish ...

Re: guidelines for subs

Well, the http://www.bokorlang.com/journal/04stndrd.htm link purported to propose the rules for European subtitles. And there are many countries and many languages in Europe (heck, some of us do not even feel England is in Europe but near Europe from which it has been separated for most of its hist...

Re: Why should i use software for upload?

I see your subs list many video files each. Does your software send all those hashes at the same time, or do you have to send them separately? I only upload the video linked to the hash I know it works for. This is the only difference with a sub uploaded from the web: That it's already got at least...

Re: guidelines for subs

"For example" For example, it says to use “I’d” instead of “I should” – something that makes no sense in any language except English. Or its use of quotes follows English rules. In Slovak we don’t write “Ahoj” but „Ahoj“ so why should we use a different system for our subtitles? And we ne...

Re: Why should i use software for upload?

By credit I meant the web site saying Uploaded by srtpal . I rarely sign my subs. I don’t feel it is right to put my name on subtitles I produced by using SubRip, so I only sign those I have either created from scratch (as I did with Soľ nad zlato since the DVD contained no subtitles) or if I have ...

Re: Why should i use software for upload?

Except, I do not trust the uploader to give me credit for my work. I take my subs very seriously and spend a long time preparing them and would be quite annoyed if I did not get credit for my work. So I always upload on the web first and add the hashes later with SubDownloader. Besides, SubDownload...
