Re: Annoying: Movies in all languages have title in english

IMDB tracks your IP and localises the pages it shows. So if opensubs is based in the US, it will see and scrape the English title; while you will see the Italian one. Anyway, it's far more reliable to search for movies by IMDB number than title, in whatever language. Searching by words usually bring...

Re: weird (spam?) email from site

I changed my email address for the forum. I changed the privacy settings in my account here: how insane is it that you allowed anyone to see other members' email addresses BY DEFAULT?. AND I STILL GET SPAM TO THE REGISTERED ADDRESS There is absolutely nowhere else I use this address but at his forum...

Re: weird (spam?) email from site

Your account (mail,password...) is safe. No it's not. Today I received a Nigerian 419 to the unique address I use for Opensubs. See below. The spammers have access to your member address list at least, maybe the passwords too. Did you outsource your "mailing list"? If so, you chose the wr...

weird (spam?) email from site

I received this odd message: Subject: Test sequential message for , Xiggy From: Opensubtitles.org writer <admin@opensubtitles.org> , Xiggy will extract and print your prospect's whole name (i.e. 'Mr. , Xiggy,' will print 'Mr. John Doe', if your prospect's name is John Doe). XXXXXXXXX will extract an...

upload season as 1 zip

There is nothing in the FAQ about uploading at all, (shouldn't there be?) and I found some old posts here that say the only way to upload a TV season is to upload each episode as a "CD".

Really? Instead of 28 SRT files in one zip I have to upload them one by one?

Re: replacing subs

My objection? What objection?
The line I quoted:
Restricting this feature just to the uploader is more inappropriate than the initial idea.

Re: replacing subs

Erm… This does exist, but take in mind someone may have changed a sub slightly (which enables them to bypass the system duplicate check, not necessarily the errors you refer to) and uploaded it again. Go take a subtitle and try uploading it again without changing anything and you will be restricted...

Re: replacing subs

So instead of 10 seconds this becomes a tedious chore, wasting my time and and an admin's, and maybe I'll do it. maybe I'll just think it's not worth the hassle to correct two words, which is what my last correction was, which after all benefits other users and the site. It’s also hard for the admi...

Re: replacing subs

“Disable” is as good as deleted. I'll take your word for it, but it's not obvious or explained anywhere in the page that I can see. I guess it could be better, but I don’t think it’s a major priority. Addic7ed has the function you require, but then again they also have the subtitle editors (one of ...

Re: replacing subs

So many won't bother. They'll just leave the old subtitle there whether they upload the corrected version separately or not, adding to the dross.

Anyway: "Disable" is quite cryptic. It doesn't mean "delete" which is what I want to do.

Let me guess:"Live with it."

Replacing Old Subtitles!

Apparently after submitting a subtitle I can correct any of the metadata, but I cannot update the actual subtitle except by deleting it (I gather that's what "Disable" means, though it's not explained anywhere I can see) and uploading a new version, and having to reenter all the above meta...

Re: most anoying in subtitles

About subtitles is it neccessary to put all in it example: huh, uh, Mmm-hmm, uh..., oh  And most anoying thing: <i> and </i> gee.. these markings must be for retardet idiots. It's a luxury to have two sets of subtitles for each movie, one for hearing impaired and one for all the other...

Re: synchronizing subtitles

Subtitle Workshop, I use version 2.51. Edit/Timings/Adjust/Adjust subtitles Then type in the corrected times of the first and last subtitles. It will adjust those and all the others proportionately. Usually that's all you have to do, this will account for different openings and framerates. Though of...
