Re: YOU want to be an Administrator at opensubtitles?

Looking for an English admin to take over [...]
So the old hounds of war are finally getting tired, huh? You can always have my job too if you're interested, scoobster. :-)

PS: Sorry for OT posting. I just couldn't resist.

Adding the HD flag to an XVID HDTVRip is as silly as adding a US flag to every non-English subtitle - just because it's for an American series or film. "HD" clearly refers to the resolution of the ripped video, and not to the resolution of the source. By today's definition HD is either 720...

OS, I am not sure if you misunderstood what I wrote or if you really want to give anything with a HD SOURCE the HD label. I think, just as scooby obviously, that only video releases that still have High Resolution should bear that label. XVID HDTV Rips are definitely not HD any more, although the so...

Here's an info about HD and framerates. Same source - same framerate. Simple. HDTV XVID rips and 720p HD Rips always share the same fps. If they are ripped from US or Canadian TV, they are always 23.976fps. Both, and that's why the subtitles often fit for XVID and 720p alike. Therefore, framerate is...

Even if this discussion doesn't lead directly to any results, it's still better to express our thoughts and share them than to bury them inside those super-brains of ours, right? I certainly learn something new each time, so that's enough reason for me to keep talking. I had this idea about the rede...

scooby, what kind of attitude is that now? You must be kidding! I believe all users are inherently GOOD. at least the vast majority. They just enjoy a free service and they are glad it exists. Most of them never become a member or will ever vote or drop a single word about all this, but they are out...

How about a rating system similar to ebay? Each user has a userpage where they can see their last downloaded subtitles and rate for them in an easy way. To make this more obvious, this should be displayed as soon as users visit OS and, in addition, somewhere where it's always visible, like a reminde...

Hi guys, it's nice to see that everybody is working on improving quality. Definitely a step in the right direction. You might know that we banned machine translations from subscene altogether 8) (hehe) because in our opinion they are just an abomination. I can see the other point though...a little. ...

I have a similar issue: I uploaded a revised version of my subtitle and now I wanted to have the old one deleted. When I open the "correct subtitle" page and tick "delete this subtitle", it says "don't hack this". Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I am under the...

LOL, that would give all the "1" ratings I got a whole new meaning. Makes me feel better to look at it that way.

I honestly don't believe it's true though. Come on, do you really think on a scale from 1-10, anybody could think that 1 is the best?

Funny, I do the same as LeapinLar: I put missing punctuation back in the subtitles. Well, you never stop learning new things. I too would like you to make it clear that you removed those, so that people know why the subtitles are so...weird all of a sudden. I looked for universal subtitle guid...

Hi scooby007, for me it's perfectly all right if you upload my subtitles somewhere else, and you can edit them as you like - if you find something to improve, that is... :D There ain't no perfect subtitle ...although LeapinLar's are always damn close to perfection. I agree, LeapinLar is the man. I a...

I looked at the links you gave me. Seems they have a similar system at addic7ed.com as well. I can see the point although I don't really like the interface. And is this whole thing waterproof? As I see it, anybody could "edit" all the lines without actually changing much or anything at all...
