There are 2 extensions for kodi, one for opensubtitles.org and one for opensubtitles.com, make sure you have the correct one.

not sure what you mean by "soft" UTF-8, but you can get any subtitle in regular UTF-8 if you download it from opensubtitles.com, as it's one of the goal of the migration to convert all the various encodings received over the years to UTF-8 you can just browse opensubtitles.com to find your...
