Ads for other sites - delete or not?

When I edit or synchronize subtitles, I don't touch any of the credits for the original translators etc., but I delete ads for other websites. For me these ads are just spam, they don't belong in the subtitles. Most of them are added automatically. Some of them make the file format invalid (using li...

Re: uploading srt but i get error: Unsupported subtitle form

By "Unicode" you mean UTF-16? Because UTF-8 is Unicode too. I remember that I requested UTF-16 support in another thread some time ago (can't find it now) and oss said he tried to implement it but came across problems. In an ideal world, all subtitles should have their encoding sniffed whe...

Re: Finding Partial English Subs for Movies with Foreign Sce

One thing you can try if Subrip gives you trouble is rename the .idx file and only open the .sub file. (The .idx file is used automatically if it has the same name.) Of course without an index file it doesn't know what language the subtitles are, so you have to set the language yourself.

Re: Invalid IMDb ID

I'm having the same problem, but only sometimes. It happens with the standalone Java uploader too.

I cheated with the duration of the last subtitle. Didn't want to do any math.

That's a strange format. But you can convert it in a text editor (for example UltraEdit) using regular expression substitution: substitute all ^(\d+):(\d+) + with 0:\1:\2.000: so that it looks like this: 0:00:00.000:(Music playing.) 0:00:03.000:Hi! I am Joe Marini. ... Then you have subtitles in &qu...

OK, apparently it was related to the whole site being down. I had been able to login over the API before even when the website was down, so I wasn't sure if it was related, but apparently it was. I only posted here because I saw this thread about not being able to login with SubDownloader. If it's o...

I don't know about SubDownloader, but in the latest version 2.0.11.2 of OpenSubDownloader there's no option to change the server in the Preferences dialog or in opensubdownloader.ini. I'm also unable to login.

Hmm. The link is already in the nfo that comes with the subtitles. Of course when I download subtitles I delete the nfo rightaway, and I suspect most people do the same. If I had to enter an email address just to receive some "Don't forget to rate" spam for every single file I download, th...

Bug: Hash submitter is credited as uploader

Whenever I submit a movie hash (with Subdownloader) for subtitles that were uploaded anonymously, I appear as the uploader of these subs. This is wrong. To submit a hash, I only do a quick check if the subs are in sync with the movie file. I don't check them for accuracy and I don't want to adopt th...

eduo, I don't understand why you would want to do away with the basic formatting options that SRT offers. (Of course SRT is not a standard with a spec, but all players I know support <i> and <b>.) Italics used right make subtitles better structured and less cluttered. Italics in subtitles are semant...

If the old version was uploaded by you, you can just disable it. That's practically the same as deleting. Of course the number of downloads and rating of the older version will also disappear. There have been long discussions about a versioning system in this forum. Some other sites allow users to e...

Yes you can. I've done that before, when the existing subtitles were unusable. Those requests are not hidden, they just have a link to the existing subs in the right column.

You can explain the situation in the comment field of the request. You should also mark those subtitles as bad.
