"From Star Wars to Jedi" Subtitles support needed

Mon Feb 18, 2013 1:34 pm

Hello Opensubtitles !

I decided to translate some very rare old video - a documentary - and I
was hoping to find some help from You, guys. To be more specific, I've
found a video called "From Star Wars to Jedi - The making of the Saga"
(This is version from 1983, counting exacly 01h.04m.41s.) and want to translate it
into the english first and polish next, as I'm from Poland And
because I try to translate everything what I can hear from the film
(I didn't found any subs for this documentary - including english)
the whole process makes it even more difficult. I'd be very grateful if
You guys could help me with it.

There are severals places in doc., that the words are very hard to
make out. Here is a time sequence where text is particularly difficult to
understand (and please, bear in mind I'm just an amateur with no
experience in such work):

1. 00.00.39.900. - Man hoarded wisdom ??
2. 00:09:11,096 - 00:09:32,829 All of this I don't understand.
3. 00:12:23,986 - 00:12:35,000 All
4. 00:17:48,838 - 00:17:51,417 "My feet work the fellows" ?? With fellows - mean buddies ?
5. 00:18:14,912 - 00:18:46,261 So so.. but I still need to see words.
6. 00:20:03,819 - 00:20:06,364 Ford is saying someting, and then laugh.
7. 00:22:49,522 - 00:22:55,855 All
8. 00:25:21,802 - 00:25:29,415 All
9. 00:27:57,000 - 00:28:01,414 All
10. 00:33:49,000 - 00:33:55,543 What he mean by saying it ? What things ?
11. 00:38:16,000 - 00:38:29,493 All
12. 00:44:56,000 - 00:45:09,976 What means to "shift the dail"? Or someting like it ?
13. 00:54:05,000 - 00:54:08,700 All
14. 00:54:18,000 - 00:54:22,308 All
15. 00:57:35,000 - 00:57:49,120 All
16. 01:01:48,001 - 01:01:59,897 All

Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't rely upon other users downloading the full movie to help you!

Please upload the related audio passages to an audio sharing/streaming platform (soundcloud, vocaroo or whatever) and give the link.

I'll see if I can free up some time to listen to this. I'm getting a copy atm (and someone is seeding it like crazy :-) ).

1. 00.00.39.900. - Man hoarded wisdom ??
->> Manhooded wisdom (manhood)
2. 00:09:11,096 - 00:09:32,829 All of this I don't understand.
Painting was painstaking, the creatures needed to have this 'lived in' look. Maybe they were not of this earth, but they had to see 'em (see them) as if they were of some earth, somewhere.
3. 00:12:23,986 - 00:12:35,000 All
Tack-up night at the creatureshop turned up into a 'farewell party'. (tack up is something like dressing up in their costumes, testing them).
4. 00:17:48,838 - 00:17:51,417 "My feet work the fellows" ?? With fellows - mean buddies ?
fellows = one of a pair, in this case a pair of wooden boards that is used to move certain parts of the creature (puppeteering). (You just need to find a good description in Polish)
5. 00:18:14,912 - 00:18:46,261 So so.. but I still need to see words.
The smoke from this cigar is for Jabba, when he smokes his pipe. I blow it up the tube and it trickles out the corner of his nose. If I was drinking port it would be a perfect job. Now this is the middle part of the tail, and this little bit is the filamentary switch. The way I move it depends on the mood he is in at the time, if he is in a irritable mood I just give it a little flips, like you are banging your fingers if you'd lose your temper or patience. When he is really losing his temper, I give it a real good thrash on, like that or backwards and forward, backwards and forward. And if he's in a lazy mood I just keep it like that, steady movements. Well I tell you, Jabba is getting very good. - You think? He's almost star now. - Oh good. We have to be very nice to him.
6. 00:20:03,819 - 00:20:06,364 Ford is saying someting, and then laugh.
Bring him in. - Is that gonna work that way? Yeah, I think it will. - I'll do it without moving mouthing piece is that ok?
7. 00:22:49,522 - 00:22:55,855 All
Taking it like here, when we get the pig**** right in there in the mouth, just starts to come down on it, and then we cut away.
8. 00:25:21,802 - 00:25:29,415 All
It would appear on film, a bit here, a piece there, for only a couple of minutes.
Ok thanks again everybody, now come all the way this ship is, thank you very much, clear away.
9. 00:27:57,000 - 00:28:01,414 All
Of course we sometimes slow down to catch our breath, and reflect on the often astonishing beauty of our imagined world, but not for long.
10. 00:33:49,000 - 00:33:55,543 What he mean by saying it ? What things ?
I have noticed as I continued experiments to see if I could get things... how fast they can get things recorder in comprehensible. (I have no clue what he means... watch the whole scene to see what he means)
11. 00:38:16,000 - 00:38:29,493 All
We'll let the bike-chase scene's faster miss travel-lines at a great amount of speed, but at them same time, eh, it's more realistic than say the trench-battle in the first film. The trench-battle is fairly clean, your speeding along, it's a fairly abstract graphic, coming at you. There are laser-bolts and things flowing around you, but, it's eh, takes place in outer space, it's an environment you don't understand, the.. what makes these speederbike chase seem faster and work better is the fact that you're in a real forest and there are trees.
12. 00:44:56,000 - 00:45:09,976 What means to "shift the dail"? Or someting like it ?
it sounds a little like 'Chip and Dale' (Chip and Dale are Disney characters, chipmunks with high pitched voices)
13. 00:54:05,000 - 00:54:08,700 All
Special effects are just a tool, a means of telling a story. People have the tendency to confuse them as an end themselves. (he speaks incomprehensible but i found the quote on imdb ;-))
14. 00:54:18,000 - 00:54:22,308 All
Effects in the story surface, the duel in The empire strikes back,
15. 00:57:35,000 - 00:57:49,120 All
the moment, that we needed were Luke at you.. you got the sense that Luke is hiding, he is not gonna fight it, he refuses to fight, he rather die first and then sub-clubbing turns him around and make them fight, and I never really come up with a satisfactory answer to that, of what he could possibly say that would set Luke off and then it 'just state', in the process of evolving the script and evolving the importance of Lea, as his sister, eh
16. 01:01:48,001 - 01:01:59,897 All
I think what happens, in a project, and your with it, and with the characters is is... which will happen to me, when the first ones were lead enormous courses, you fall in love with the characters, and you fall in love with the environment.

Note: some of the sentences George makes simply don't 'run' smoothly, it's like that with an interview, it's not a script he's reading ;-)
