What format is this? What are the format specs?

Mon Dec 22, 2014 8:49 am

Can anyone identify the subtitle file format exemplified below? I've encountered it in files with .txt extensions.

Code: Select all

{8664}{8724}{y:i}Are you kiddin'? He's--|{y:i}He's broken every bone|{y:i}in his body.
WHAT I'VE FIGURED OUT SO FAR

1) The 8664 and 8724 are "start" and "stop" tick-counts (40 ms per tick).

2) The pipe character (|) indicates end-of-line.

3) The text "{y:i}" means "begin italicizing".

QUESTIONS

A) As far as I can tell, "{y:i}" means italicize until end-of-line.

Is this correct?

Further, how do I italicize a single word, in the middle of a line?

B) Is the same mechanism, with 'b' instead of 'i', used for bold?

C) Can someone point me to a full description of the file format?

Thanks for any help.
