Whats the point of the player?

Postby xrozhija » Mon Aug 27, 2012 9:02 pm

I just downloaded the player from the website while browsing for subtitles, as it sounded great, that it could find the subtitles for me.

BUT!! Then i get it installed, it cant play videos, have to download codex manually, which i have never been in need of using VLC or any other players i have used previously.

Then i download Xvid, but hey, STILL no image in the player, only sound.

Then i read a post on the forum, saying i have to use the LIVE updater, but hey, that costs money.

So why not say on the front page, that if you want to use our player, and have it function, you have to pay. I know its only a small sum, but for me, its the principle of it, if it had said on the front page that it cost 2 euro, i would have paid it, but now where i have had to download it, try to get it to work, and THEN get told it costs money, i wont pay for it.

Is this how you expect ppl to support your cause? By making a "free" app, and then tricking ppl into paying for it after they downloaded it.

I'm not a fan of the Open Subtitles MKV Player, I have tried it once, I didn't like him so I removed from my PC, however to be fair, never once I've notice any of the issues you reported here and in no occasion the player asked me to pay whatever it was, the codecs parts because I have one pack of codecs installed, and (as far as I know) all codecs packs available are totally freeware.

So, if you like the OS MKV Player, and want to use him as default player, my advise will be to install also the (for instance) K-Lite Codec Pack and I believe all the problems you reported will be solved.
