Help needed for subtitles

Postby karenkhor » Thu Jan 26, 2012 6:18 pm

Hello everyone ^^
i have a mkv movie and downloaded the .srt subtitle from this website.. my problem is that when i play the movie together with the subtitle on my HDTV, the subtitle appear VERY small~ (the TV has a USB port so i just save the movie on a pendrive and use it directly the TV, no player etc).. i did tried to play on my pc with media player classic and the subtitle works fine, just that it is small on TV.. i tried to use program such as mkvmerge GUI to insert the .srt subtitle into the mkv file so that (hopefully) the subtitle could enlarge on TV but the show can't even be played (unable to read) on my TV after doing so.. i am not sure what's going on or what i had done wrong.. any help? hopefully anyone could understand what i mean because i am very new in these kind of thing and don't know what term/name to use when explaining my problem >_<

It won't matter how you change the styling of the subs in your PC, because when you put it on a standalone player it will always use their own style for the subs.

In your case, if you are lucky, there should be some options on your TV to increase the subtitles size.
My brother's TV has this option, but even that way it have almost no border on the subs, so it's not very nice to read it...

Except you convert the .srt in an ass, change the font, size, position, color etc. in the header as you like it and then hardcode these .ass in the movie.
Not the best way, but possible.
