Can't upload subtitles, error: Maintenance.

Thu Jun 26, 2025 8:09 am

Hello, I'm having an issue with uploading subtitles. I have these subtitles ready to upload, and even though I've tried using the official app (the automated one) as well as directly on the website, I keep getting a message saying it's under maintenance. However, I don't see any notification about this on the site. What is the reason for this?

In general, it always helps a lot if you provide the exact text of the error.

But in this case, I think I know what is going on. Every day around 'this time' some things are done and the whole site is down for let's say 10 minutes or so. I think you picked exactly this moment for uploading. Very likely it would work just fine if you try again now.

If the problem persists, let us know and describe exactly what you do. Possibly include URLs and screenshots.
Nowadays a VPN is a must for everyone. A VPN allows you safe surfing and protects you against spying governments and companies.
I recommend AirVPN - from € 2,75 per month. Click the below banner for more info.

Thank you for your response — I understand now. I don’t visit the site often and prefer to focus on working, collecting subtitles over time, and then uploading them all at once, as I’m doing now. I thought I might have overloaded the servers, especially since there was no notification (like how PlayStation Network or Steam handle it — they notify you ahead of time so you can plan accordingly instead of trying to use the service during downtime).

So it’s just a 10-minute maintenance window each day? That’s manageable. Now I know how to work around it.

Also, while I was waiting for your reply and continuing to upload other subtitles, I ran into another issue. I’ll explain it in detail in my next post on this topic — I just need a moment to gather all the relevant information so I can help you help me resolve the problem. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

I need to upload these subtitles, but no matter what I try — uploading them directly, converting them to .srt, even keeping the name of the site where I did the conversion — nothing works. I keep getting an error message.

Other subtitle files upload just fine, even when they're in .ass format. I also double-checked the file itself: there are no strange characters or corrupted text that could break the file or the conversion. The file opens without any issues.

What should I do?

I also tried using the OpenSubtitles tool, but it has stopped working for me. (I might bring this up in the appropriate section.)

Sending you a virtual kiss to say thank you: it’s perfect now!
But I’m curious: why wasn’t it uploading before? I’d like to understand what went wrong so I’ll know how to handle it if it ever happens again.

I can change your upload name, if you want. I dont know what went wrong to be honest, I have special rights so many stuff are not blocked :)

I understand, well, that’s how it went...

This is just a question, nothing serious. How come when I report incorrect subtitles (often they’re mine — sometimes when I upload one after another, I get distracted and mix up the numbers), and I see that they’ve been removed, then when I try to upload the correct episodes it tells me that a similar file already exists? I’ve even tried changing the title, maybe by adding something like “version 2”, but still nothing. How does this work?

When this is the case, in order to upload you have to change the sync of the subtitle, first and last line in 1ms.
