Re: Subtitle Workshop: Backwarding the text. How?

You would have to use a text editor supporting regex (regular expressions), eg Notepad++. Regexs are very powerful, but if you're not familiar with them, this will look like gibberish to you... See eg http://www.regular-expressions.info/ With regex selected, replace: \n(.+)\? with: \n\?$1 Note: Subt...

Re: Foreign language translation only

Filtering <1000 bytes would bring lots of mistakes (trailers, short movies etc). The size of the forced sub depends on the amount of foreign language in the movie. I think the only automatic detection for a forced sub icon can be to seek "forced" or "foreign" in the sub name. Oth...

Quand on a be...

Re: Suggestion for all files to be UTF-8

I suggest to add at least a new field in the uploading form where uploaders can specify the encoding they used (if they know it). Of course, a deluxe version would be that the encoding is automatically detected and then displayed at the subtitles info -- or: all subtitles are automatically converte...

MY NON-LATIN SUBS SHOW WEIRD CHARACTERS

It may be because your text editor does not recognize properly the character encoding, and automatically opens the file with latin CP1252 encoding. So you need to open the file with a text editor that lets you chose the encoding, eg Microsoft Word. Open the sub file with MS Word, and select the enco...

Re: Display of non-latin symbols as subs... help!

This is because your file editor cannot properly detect the encoding, it opens it with latin CP1252 encoding by default. So you have to use an editor that lets you manually chose the encoding. Open the Greek file with Microsoft Word, and select the "Greek (Windows)" encoding or any other t...

Re: Format conversion of Subtitles (Mac)

A Rich Text Format file can be anything.
Have you tried opening it with Subtitle Editor or Subtitle Workshop?
Otherwise if there is no copyright issue, you could upload it so we can have a look.

Bonjour,

Re: Where to find Chinese subtitles for English shows?

I guess a free proxy with Chinese IP would be too slow for streaming, and unreliable. You can try e.g. Hidemyass VPN service, 78.66 USD a year, they have Hong Kong IP addresses with very few bandwidth loss. There is a free 30 days trial. Or if the Chinese subtitles are already available on subtitles...

Logging in to the forum

Why can't the users who are logged in opensubtitles.org, be automatically logged in the forum?

I feel that there would be many more users using the forum, if they did not have to create a second account.
